The City Government of Tagum under the leadership of Mayor Allan L. Rellon, in line with his EAGLE WINGS program, threw full support to the festival as a way of extoling the gay community in the city.
In his message of support, Mayor Rellon stressed the need to sustain the city’s festivals like the Gay Summit as he believes that this become an avenue to achieve, unite and recognize each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Mayor Rellon assured the Tagumeños to preserve this partnership for the incoming festivals as well as to embrace opportunities, skills, talents and creativity in all aspects to achieve positive changes which his administration advocates.
Mayor Rellon said the gay community has a big part of the success in the city that they should not be criticized but instead they must be embraced in the social order.
“We count you as our partner in Tagum’s progress and development,” Mayor Rellon said.
Harmonized by the festival’s theme Embrace, Encourage, Empower, the three-day festival aims to celebrate the so-called gay power, raise awareness against discrimination, and to foster unity among them.
Highlighting this year’s summit is the Gay Summit Queen search and the Palarong Pambakla happening on July 30. The group will also conduct a feeding program and a variety show dubbed as the GayMazing Show on July 31, 2013.
The Tagum City Gay Summit is organized by the Tagum City Tourism Office and the Tagum City Gay Association, Inc.
