I haven't bought any books lately but this month I will hah! Why? One of my favorite Pinoy poet, Mark Angeles is releasing his third chapbook of poems entitled "Threesome" and I'm quite phsyched and excited to read and be inspired by his new collections of poem.
For those who don't know Mark Angeles, here's a short description posted in panitikan.com.ph:
Mark Angeles is known for his cyber moniker Makoy Dakuykoy. He graduated with a BA Journalism from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta.Mesa, Manila. A year after teaching in grade school, he went back to organizing campus writers and was elected vice president for Luzon of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines.
In 2006, he attended the IYAS and Iligan National Writers Workshop. He won awards from the Palanca, Haruki Murakami Essay Writing Contest (by The Japan Foundation, Manila), and the Lampara Books Children’s Story Writing Contest.
His poems and short stories were published in FILMAG, Liwayway, CCP Ani, Literary Apprentice, Pinoy Weekly, bulatlat.com, LIKHAAN: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature, Mga Kuwentong Paspasan, Latay sa Isipan, Crowns and Oranges, Under the Storm and other anthologies and literary folios.
Makoy had gained cyber notoriety with his poem ‘Kaya Kong Magbitiw ng Bitter Words’, a redux of Pablo Neruda’s ‘Tonight I Can Write’. Khavn dela Cruz made it into a song which you can hear at http://makoydakuykoy.multiply.com/music/item/46. His poem ‘Sa Pagitan Natin’ has been translated in more than a dozen languages. The translations can be read at http://patikimnimakoy.blogspot.com.
He has two indie books—Patikim and Emotero—and a downloadable chapbook—Engkantado.
He is a member of Kilometer 64 Poetry Collective and Guniguni.
Let me know poets if you also want to have THREESOME... the chapbook I mean.
