Facebook kills Postcards says Skyscanner

Photo from Wikihow.com
I love writing letters and postcards.  Though the last time I did was a year ago, I sent a postcard to a friend in Italy for his birthday.  Sadly, he received it a week later. But as they said, better late than never! Hehehe...I love it as it's something to anticipate, to wait and to finally hold it and keep for a lifetime. The romance postcards bring is something that is priceless, at least for me.

Sadly though, the use of social networking sites, Facebook in particular  has overtaken the use of the traditional postcards specially when travelling abroad. This is according to the recent survey conducted by leading global travel search site, www.Skyscanner.com.ph.

The survey said 81% of the 1,000 Filipino tourists polled said that they would update their Facebook while on holiday. Most of us would just post photos, post it on Facebook and tag our love ones to "digitally" share that very moment. I think, since we live in a very fast world, the need to immediately share the joy of being to places a lot of us have no capacity or means to do, has been an essential part of any Filipino travelers.

Entrusting My Daily Errands with DailyErrands.ph

I love to cook! Like writing poems, the urge to cook something would suddenly hit me anytime. The only thing that hinders me to come up with a sumptuous dish sometimes, is the lack of ingredients. Supplies are not always available at home and I have to step out, and buy the ingredients I need.  Most of the time, I don't have the energy, (and the patience) to go out or the craving would hit me at the most unholy hour that stepping out might not be a good idea. So the cooking urge would end up to frustration and hunger hahaha.

A couple of months ago, a good friend of mine asked me to try his new business --- a new website developed by his team who are mostly young and energetic newly grads.  He said, it will change the way I do my daily errands and will save me from spending too many hours lining up in over-crowded stores.  DailyErrands.ph is basically a solution to people like me who either lack time to do their own shopping or need to multi-task and do personal stuff while working in front of a computer.

AirAsia PH's new hotline and payment partner announced

I love traveling. In fact, I have been to almost many parts of the country but, admittedly, I have never been to Boracay. So when I heard that AirAsia, one of the low cost airlines flying tourists to Boracay via Kalibo announced that they have a new and better hotline, which, by the way is very easy to remember, I got excited.

Beginning today, AirAsia, which also has the youngest fleet, will be reachable through 742 ASIA or 742-2742 and customers can pay for their tickets cash at any 7-Eleven outlet.

“To provide optimum customer care service for our guest, AirAsia is launching two new significant innovations. We have a new customer hotline that is easy to remember and we are also rolling out our cash payment partner with 7-Eleven store for our passengers who want to avail of our online promo and other privileges but would like to pay in cash instead of using their credit cards,” AirAsia Inc. Commercial head Freddy Herrera said.

Out of office for several reasons

I know I owe you guys an explanation even if it feels like I should not be sharing too much of my private life online. Though some of you who knows me personally, knew all along my reason for taking a some sort of Sabbatical from blogging.

To keep it short and brief, here are the reasons why:

1. Aling Josie joined her creator last year. A week after my last blog post and I have to arrange a lot of things to make sure her last requests were granted.

 2. I have to go on a Christmas break alone. For reasons that are way too personal.

3. I started my own business and had been busy attending bazaars left and right.

4. My romantic life has taken too much of my time and focus that I have forgotten to update my blog.

So now, I am back and you can say that my life is back on track. I know that life will never be the same again with losses and new things that I have been busy with.

To end, I would like to thank you for sticking with me. Through hiatus after another hiatus, you patiently waited for another blog post from me.

So I'm responding to my blog requests again and will post (hopefully) regularly from here on.

Mochi Sweets is now in Manila

mochi pasalubong from Hong Kong
I love mochi! In fact, I recently asked a colleague of mine to buy me two boxes of mochies on her way back from her Hong Kong trip. She was so kind that she bought me two boxes.  I first tasted mochi during a business meeting with a Taiwanese client.  She gave away individually packed mochi that we shared during the meeting and I even brought home five. Sadly there are not much stores here in Manila that offer mochi. So I would really grab the chance to ask a colleague or a relative to buy me mochi whenever they go out of the country.

What are mochies? “Mochi” (according to wikipedia.org) is a well-loved Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice flour pounded into shape.  Mochi's popularity has grown not only in Japan but spread all throughout the East and Southeast Asia since there are also similar rice cakes from these regions usually prepared during New Year celebration.

Incidentally, a blogger friend of mine gave me a good news. She said that Mochi Sweets, one of the largest Japanese Luxury Sweets from Hong Kong has finally find its way to the Philippines. As Filipinos are not only lovers of anything tasty and delectable but also have the flare and penchant for embracing food from around the world, Mochi Sweets is expected to win our hearts and create a craze seen in countries like Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

Now, I don't have to ask my colleagues and relatives to by me authentic Mochi when they travel. And most of the time, these mochies are not as good as the fresh ones. Thanks to Mochi Sweets, I can now easily visit their Mochi Sweets kiosk at the SM Mall of Asia as often as I want to and satisfy my craving for this Asian rice cake hit.

On Love, Age and Marriage

Photo from https://www.facebook.com/MMKOfficial
I watched last night's Maalaala Mo Kaya's Kabibe episode. It's a love story of two souls reunited after 45 years of living separate lives.  It tells us how love remains in our hearts even if we parted ways and chose to be with someone else. That there is always a chance given to people who truly love.  It also answers the questions, "Am I too old to fall in love, get married and be happy?" and "Can love truly wait?"

I'm brave enough to admit that I almost cried watching MMK last night.  I can not imagine myself waiting for forever for someone I love and wonder if I will be able to experience the same happy-ever-after ending or, with a touch of reality, suffer regrets the same way some of us had experienced.

Copperazo: Shiny, Shimmering, Small pieces

I am not a fashionista. So when a good friend of mine, who happens to be a businessman, offered me to sell Copperazo -- hand-made accessories made out of copper and stones, I was hesitant. Simply because I do not know how to sell products that I basically don't wear. Though I'd put them on the moment he handed me the first batch of rings, I am still a bit ambivalent if I'd be able to push this. Well it's like love at first sight, and an unrequited one since I don't really get to own one nor I can wear it myself since it's for ladies and girls... ok... for lady-guys as well.  Anyway, I like the product.  Plus the fact that it's hand-made and Philippine made. I then decided to give it a try.
